Ooni's Karu 2 Pro connected pizza oven offers remote temperature monitoring
Ooni is the specialist in outdoor cooking, and more particularly pizza ovens. After switching to electric with the Volt 12 (LINK), the manufacturer returns to its first love by offering the Karu 2 Pro multi-fuel oven. On the other hand, Ooni adds a little touch of technology by making the oven connected.
A multi-fuel, connected pizza oven
The Karu 2 Pro is an outdoor oven. It is possible to cook food over charcoal, wood fire or gas, depending on preference. But whatever cooking mode is chosen, the user has the option of monitoring the oven temperature. Indeed, the Karu 2 Pro gains in technology and becomes connected thanks to Ooni Connect.
The oven then communicates the temperature reached inside its cavity via a digital screen installed under the oven or via its smartphone. It is the presence of a digital probe which allows you to obtain this information and avoid burning your pizza. Cooking tips and tricks are also available on the manufacturer's app.
Ooni returns to its flagship features
Like all Ooni ovens – except the Volt 12 – the Karu 2 Pro can reach 500°C in 20 minutes and therefore offer pizzas that are both soft and crispy. Only 60 seconds would be enough to cook a Neapolitan pizza, for example, of 40 cm maximum. Moreover, it is entirely possible to cook other foods, such as chicken, bread, vegetables or pieces of red meat.
To avoid making any mistakes when cooking, a glass door lets you see the food. This glass door takes up almost the entire front surface of the Karu 2 Pro, which measures 81 x 50 x 83 cm. Finally, with a steel shell, the Karu 2 Pro would be weatherproof; which allows it to equip any outdoor kitchen.
For those with a sweet tooth and pizza aficionados, the Ooni Karu 2 Pro should be available at the end of October at a price of €799.
