Rugrats returns... in live-action!

La Binocle and company, almost in the flesh

Rugrats will therefore be entitled to a half CGI, half live action treatment. Sonic the Hedgehogeven if we still have difficulty visualizing what Tommy, La Binocle, Angelica and company will look like.

Regardless, the film will be directed by comedy director Jason Moore (Pitch Perfect, Sisters, Shotgun Wedding) and written by Mikey Day and Streeter Seidell, both writers on the comedy show Saturday Night Live. With such a team, we expect this film Rugrats therefore has a rather offbeat tone.

Created by Arlene Klasky, Gábor Csupó and Paul Germain, the series Rugrats was born in 1991 and features a group of children under three years old led by Tommy, nicknamed Casse-Bonbon, who embark on all kinds of adventures anchored in their imagination as soon as their parents' backs are turned .

The film should therefore at least feature the characters of Tommy, Charles-Édouard (La Binocle), Alphonse and Sophie (les Grumeaux), Angelica (Couette-Couette) as well as their parents, even if no official details concerning the story which will be told has not yet been communicated.

The series Rugrats resulted in three animated films: Rugrats, the movie in 1998, Rugrats in Paris, the movie in 2000 and Rugrats meets Delajungle in 2003. In 2021, it was also the subject of a computer-generated image reboot offered on Paramount+.

This is the first time that these toddlers will appear on our screens in live-action and one thing is certain, we sincerely hope that Chuck (the nickname of Binocle in original version) will not end up looking like Chucky.

While waiting to be clear, you can rediscover the original series on Paramount+, the offer of which is included in subscriptions Canal+.
