2024 is definitely the year of calendar upheavals in the small world of tech. While Samsung regulars are impatiently awaiting the next Android 15 update via One UI 7, the process is much slower than usual.
Unlike previous updates, traditionally available at the end of the year, Android 15 will only be available to users in 2025 on the South Korean giant's smartphones. The lag is particularly notable, as other brands like Vivo have already started rolling out their version of Android 15.
Delay in the Samsung galaxy
Samsung announced during its annual developers conference that the release of the One UI 7 beta will be available before the end of 2024, although it did not specify an exact date. Initially, rumors suggested an early launch with a beta planned as early as summer, but this hypothesis was quickly abandoned due to internal delays.
The development of One UI 7 seems more complex than expected, especially because of the many new features based on artificial intelligence and a major overhaul of the user interface. Samsung wants to avoid the same dysfunctions as Apple and gives itself more time to refine its software. This could explain why the final deployment will only happen at the same time as the release of the Galaxy S25 series, expected in early 2025.
A revamped interface that is desired
One UI 7 promises to bring significant aesthetic and functional changes to the user experience of Samsung devices:
- Simplified design The overall appearance will be clearer and more organized
- Integrated AI Intelligent functions to simplify certain tasks
- Increased fluidity A more intuitive and pleasant user experience
However, precise details on the feature set still remain unclear. The final version of One UI 7 will likely be reserved for newer models, such as the Galaxy S25 series, which could limit its immediate access to some users.
An exclusion for future premiums?
The delay in the Android 15 update means that current Galaxy smartphone users will have to wait several months to benefit from it. Historically, Samsung has always rolled out its One UI updates towards the end of the year, but this time they might have to wait until four or five months after the official release of Android 15.
This could also indicate that Samsung is reserving some advanced One UI 7 features for new smartphone models. The Galaxy S25, expected in early 2025, will probably be the first to benefit from all these new features, including version 7.1 of One UI, which could introduce additional improvements.
