Google's Gemini model had already managed to establish itself as a credible alternative to ChatGPT. But in August 2024, Google launched Gemini Livea more powerful model capable of holding a conversation with a user, who is no longer required to write or dictate prompts. Today, Gemini Live is available in 5 new languages on Android: French, German, Portuguese, Hindi and Spanish. Note also that a few weeks ago, Google has made the decision to make Gemini Live free for all Android users (previously you had to subscribe to the Gemini Advanced offer). In other words, by adding these new languages and making it free, Gemini Live intends to make itself accessible to as many people as possible, and is clearly not going to stop there. Google plans to eventually support more than 40 different languages.

To use Gemini Live, you must first go to the Google application, then tap the user's profile image at the top of the page. Then select Settings, then Google Assistant, and finally Languages. Then choose French (and another language if you wish): Gemini Live can work with two languages simultaneously. Note that these new languages are still being rolled out. It is therefore entirely possible that your smartphone does not yet benefit from the update, in which case you will be asked to wait a little.
