One of the most notable announcements in the photo market in 2024 was probably Nikon's acquisition of the American company RED, which offers professional cameras for many productions, from cinema to advertising to music videos. This acquisition is part of Nikon's strategy aimed at positioning itself as a key player in professional video, today dominated by other manufacturers such as Sony, Canon and Panasonic.
RED rendering with a Nikon body
With this new LUT packthe Japanese manufacturer lays the first stone of its collaboration with RED. The objective is to allow “nikonist” videographers to have the color rendering of RED cameras in order to mix the cameras while maintaining identical color rendering.
In the pack, we also find what we call artistic LUTs, four in number, which allow you to apply a particular rendering to video sequences, a bit like filters or image styles in photos. We find FILM BIAS, FILM BLEACH BYPASS and FILM OFFSET for a film-like rendering, as well as a monochrome ACHROMATIC LUT.
For all Nikon bodies that offer N-Log
LUTs are generally aimed at advanced users who want to get the most out of their box's video capabilities. The new Nikon LUT pack is available for free download from the manufacturer's website. It is compatible with Nikon Z6III, Zf, Z9, Z8, Z7II, Z6IID780, Z7 and Z6.
