The absence of Apple Intelligence at the release of the iPhone 16 Pro on this side of the Atlantic has rained down a shower of criticism on this model from the fruity brand. However, from a purely technical and functional point of view, this smartphone is a real success. This is certainly an incremental evolution compared to its predecessor, but the device is still progressing in small steps in all areas. Between its near-perfect screen, its even improved battery life, its photo performance, its firepower and its excellent manufacturing quality, it's difficult to fault it for anything. Only its camera control key left us doubtful, but without bothering us on a daily basis. When it comes time to take stock, the iPhone 16 Pro is an excellent terminal, no doubt about it. But is that enough of a change if you already have an iPhone 15 Pro? Certainly not. On the other hand, if you have an older model and want to renew it, there is no serious reason to ignore the 16 Pro. Apple Intelligence will just be the icing on the smartphone when the functionality finally decides to arrive in our latitudes, sometime in 2025.

Alternatively

The Galaxy S24 Ultra brilliantly succeeds the Galaxy S23 Ultra, which itself had reached a technical milestone that its successor is undoubtedly refining. The smartphone combines strong points which undoubtedly earn it the term premium. In a case with discreet but pleasant refinements, the device has a very beautiful screen whose low sensitivity to reflections should be highlighted. It is powerful, equipped with a solid photo component, good autonomy – certainly, for a charge that deserves more speed -, all sprinkled with artificial intelligence, which still needs to mature. Add to that the promise of very long-lasting software updates and you have one of the best full-size smartphones.
