Robot, broom or floor scrubber? The LG Combi A9X 2-in-1 does all three at once
We have known for a long time devices that combine two functions: washer-dryers, floor vacuum cleaners, etc. Those that combine three functions are rarer, but the Combi A9X 2-in-1, despite its name, is part of this category. In the same body, it actually accommodates a stick vacuum cleaner, a floor scrubber and a robot vacuum cleaner.
The Combi A9X 2-in-1 is also classified in the category of stick vacuum cleaners with emptying base. As a reminder, simply place the stick vacuum cleaner on its base so that the debris contained in the collector is sucked up and stored in a dust bag housed in the base. This waste storage solution also works for the robot vacuum cleaner which, after returning to its housing placed under the device, sees its waste bin automatically emptied. The volume of the dust bags reaches a comfortable 2.5 l.
The A9X stick vacuum cleaner in the A9X 2-in-1 Combi seems rather basic, although it benefits from multicyclonic filtration. However, it does not include any particle counter or intelligent brush that can recognize the ground over which it passes. The electronic display does not seem to give precise indications regarding the remaining battery life.
On this subject, the Li-ion battery promises 20 minutes of autonomy at the intermediate power level with an electric brush plugged in, which seems a little short. Good point, LG delivers a second battery. The manufacturer has also provided its waste compaction system called Kompressor and a telescopic suction tube, which is not so common for a stick vacuum cleaner.
The suction head can be replaced by a head intended for washing the floor, which therefore includes a duo of rotating mops. As is often the case with this type of device, a water tank is included. The liquid (possibly added with detergent) is projected onto the floor via a nozzle placed on the front of the cleaning head.
The R5 robot vacuum cleaner is also capable of cleaning the floor using a similar system. This time, the water is not splashed, but the mops are kept wet. LG is not very forthcoming about the robot, but emphasizes that its navigation system is based on a LiDAR (location and distance measurement system based on the emission and reception of a light beam).
Obviously, the entire Combi A9X 2-in-1 uses the LG ThinQ in-house application. The latter must simplify the daily use of the different elements (broom vacuum cleaner, robot vacuum cleaner and automatic emptying base), but also and above all their maintenance by warning the owner that it is time to clean a filter or change the bag .
For the moment, no price and no marketing date have been communicated. For your information, the Combi A9X 2-in-1 is sold for HK$12,990, which corresponds to just over €1,500.
