One UI 7: Samsung's next big update would copy Apple and iOS 18
With iOS 18, Apple introduced control center customizationa space separate from notifications allowing quick access to settings and shortcuts. Samsung would also have frankly taken inspiration from it with One UI 7.
A control center like on iOS 18
The next big update to the Galaxy operating system would indeed bring a similar areajust as customizable. As a reminder, the South Korean firm has for years offered a single space bringing together notifications and quick shortcuts.
For many months, it has been anticipated that this will change with One UI 7and we now have a picture of what it might look like.
Shared by Ice Universe on Twitter/X this October 7, 2024, the latter highlights quick access to various options ranging from connectivity to audio, including display, management of media currently playing and various already well-known quick settings (screen sharing, location, mobile data, screen recording, etc.)
At the top right, we notice a pencil-shaped icon, highlighting the possibility of customizing this new environment. A power button is also included, like a nut to quickly open the settings.
This would thus be an opportunity for Samsung to effectively offload the notification center, where all these options were previously available.
One UI 7 for 2025
The deployment of One UI 7 is unfortunately not planned for soon…
During its recent conference dedicated to developers, Samsung was very evasive about the planned changes, and further clarified that the update would not be available only from the beginning of 2025.
It would thus come out at the same time as the Galaxy S25expected for the month of January 2025. The One UI 5 and One UI 6 updates arrived during the months of October 2022 and 2023 respectively.
