We tried Kling AI: video-generating artificial intelligence
Kling AI is a web platform that allows you to generate videos based on simple text in natural language, also called “prompt” in the jargon of AI enthusiasts. The service is positioned in direct competition with tools such as RunwayML or Sora, the OpenAI model which is not yet available to the general public. We tried Kling AI and here are our feelings about this particularly impressive artificial intelligence for its abilities to generate realistic videos.
Generate videos from an image
The particularity of Kling AI lies in its ability to generate videos from a pre-existing image. Although it is perfectly possible to create a universe from scratch, Kling allows you to animate photos or illustrations, including those generated by third-party AI. In other words, yes, you can generate an image on MidJourney and animate it on Kling AI. The test we are offering you is very similar to this example. We chose to generate an image using Leonardo AI, an artificial intelligence designed for this purpose that we had previously tried.
For our example, we entered a prompt to create an illustration of a businessman walking in front of a pink car in a big city. Now that our image is created, we will turn it into a video by importing it into Kling AI.
We carried out two tests: the first consisted of the animation of the photo previously generated by Leonardo AI. The second rendering comes entirely from Kling AI to which we provided a prompt similar to the one entered on Leonardo AI. Kling thus created a video from scratch using a simple text.
Video-generating AI @Kling_ai is able to animate images quite successfully. Here are two examples: one uses a pre-generated illustration with @LeonardoAi_ while the second generates a video from text (prompt). pic.twitter.com/5T0Wf2QbSJ

It still took Kling a good twenty hours to generate each clip with a final duration of five seconds. An extremely slow duration which can prove problematic for a large number of videos to be generated, especially given possible modifications to be made. Unfortunately, while it is possible to launch several prompts simultaneously, only one video can be generated at a time. In other words, subsequent videos are added to a queue.
Note that while Kling AI offers free video generation credits, certain features remain reserved for members with a paid subscription. In this sense, we can only generate videos with a duration of 5 seconds, compared to 10 seconds for subscribers. The same goes for the visual quality of the videos, the so-called “pro” mode being reserved for paying members of the platform.
