Between Goldorak And Pacific Rim

Remember: Voltron told the adventures of a team of five space explorers, the Voltron Force. They pilot robot lions which have the ability to unite to form a giant robot, and which allows them to defend their galaxy from evil.

This Western animated series is part of the cult lineage Mazinger, Great Mazinger and of course Goldorak. Composed of 124 episodes released between 1984 and 1985, it was in fact a mixture of two Japanese series, GoLion And Dairugger XV.

In France, Voltron was broadcast on the show Warm the ice cubes! on Antenne 2, but only in part, due to lack of audience.

This future film Voltron produced by the Amazon MGM studio will be directed by Rawson Marshall Thurber, already at the helm of Skyscraper in 2018 and Red Notice of Netflixand written by the little-known Ellen Shanman.

Henry Cavill joins the cast of young Daniel Quinn-Toye, for whom this will be his first real on-screen project, apart from an appearance in the series Badults.

If the story of the feature film is not yet known, Voltron is a new intellectual property (or “IP”, so valuable in Hollywood) linked to Henry Cavill. The interpreter of Superman in the DCEU and of Geralt of Rivia in the series The Witcher always seems to be looking for his next big role.

Besides Voltronwhich still seems very young in its development, this one could be in the reboot of Highlander by Chad Stahelski, which is set in early 2025 in Scotland.

The British actor is also part of the game adaptation project Warhammer 40Kcurrently in development at Amazon.

Waiting to see Voltron on the big screen, and if you are fans of the series, note that the eight seasons of the 2016 remake – Voltron, the legendary defender – are available on the Netflix streaming platform.
