Chassis, connections, screen of the Asus VivoBook S1405VA-DRLY434W
It has an elegant and discreet appearance with its compact, thin and light light silver design that is robust due to its compliance with the American military resistance standard MIL-STD-810G.
This Ultrabook has good wired connectivity with its USB-C, its useful HDMI video output to easily connect it to a monitor or a TV for example, its audio port or even its 3 USBs including 2 USB 3.0 (USB 2.0 compatible). ) providing transfers up to 10 times faster than USB 2.0 if USB 3.0 devices are connected.
Wireless connectivity, however, disappoints. If we find correct Bluetooth 5.1, the choice of the Wi-Fi 5 ac standard present here instead of the more recent and efficient Wi-Fi 6 ax is regrettable.
Many people will appreciate being able to backlight the chiclet keyboard whenever they need to better discern its keys.
On this multimedia-oriented laptop, entering numbers is made easier when you activate the NumberPad functionality: it takes the form of a tactile numeric keypad instead of the touchpad.
Like any model smaller than 15 inches, this laptop does not have the space necessary to accommodate a physical numeric keypad on the right of the keyboard.
The Full HD screen is adorned with a 16/10th format higher than the classic 16/9th. This way more information is displayed.
Anti-reflective treated, the screen ensures better visibility than a shiny panel in a bright environment (e.g. outdoors) while benefiting from significant viewing angles, both horizontally and vertically. And this is thanks to its IPS technology, which is however not high-end here, which is a shame because we would have obtained a more faithful colorimetry than the average.
Performance, autonomy of the Asus VivoBook S1405VA-DRLY434W
The Asus VivoBook S1405VA-DRLY434W targets those looking for a compact laptop with high performance in terms of multimedia-oriented processor.
Demanding users will be delighted by the good overall power provided by this elegant silver laptop.
Because it relies on 16 GB of RAM and above all a high-end Intel Raptor Lake Core i9-13900H processor equipped with 14 hybrid cores and an integrated Iris Xe graphics solution.
The potential of this duo is revealed in work requiring RAM and CPU resources using multi-core, such as photo editing or video editing.
Concretely in this type of area, processing is carried out more quickly here than with a computer based on a classic Quad/Hexa Core processor.
The 1 TB SSD storage is welcome since it offers a significant capacity of 1000 GB to accommodate many files and software, including obviously personal creations.
Both shock-resistant, energy-efficient and silent, an SSD above all provides great responsiveness and fluidity on a daily basis thanks to its speed.
So thanks to the SSD it is quick to start/stop, carry out processing or even launch applications.
Gaming is possible under this Ultrabook, but only if you are content with light titles. Because no dedicated graphics card is on board. The Iris Xe therefore takes care of all the graphics and of course allows you to watch HD photos and videos.
As for autonomy, expect around 6 hours of battery operation in light use for this thin and light compact laptop PC that is easy to transport.
It may be of interest to some who wish to equip themselves with a student laptop efficient in terms of multimedia-oriented processor offering high storage capacity with no need for long battery life or recent wireless connectivity.
Also expect the case to heat up with noise generated when this Ultrabook is pushed hard (e.g. processing). If necessary to contain its temperatures, we can add a ventilated support (remember to check the dimensions carefully!).
