BMW produces 50 examples of this luxury roadster after the success of its concept
The BMW Skytop is inspired by the legendary BMW Z8 and 507 with cutting-edge technologies and the brand's heritage on display. Its design pays homage to iconic roadsters. But what does this exclusive series of just 50 copies have in store for us?
A Luxury Roadster for BMW Lovers
Its hood is elongated and sculpted with a shark nose and an illuminated grille. The door handles have notably been replaced by fins for a neat aesthetic with lines that suggest movement.
The interior of the BMW Skytop features leather and crystal inlays. For the technology part, the BMW Live Cockpit Professional with color head-up display is there. In terms of sound, this collector's item is equipped with a Diamond Surround audio system from Bowers & Wilkins.
Under the hood, the Skytop has BMW's most powerful V8 with 625 horsepower. The engine enables acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.3 seconds with the eight-speed Steptronic Sport transmission and xDrive system.
The BMW was first a concept shown at the Concorso d'Eleganza Villa d'Este. But following the enthusiastic reception from collectors, the manufacturer produced this very limited series. It is therefore a collector's item but also, as you can imagine, a speculation item.
It remains to be seen who will be the lucky ones who will be able to afford this high-performance, luxurious and sophisticated roadster.
