After Magic V3 And 200 Pro convincing, Honor is preparing to unveil its Magic 7 series, with a presentation confirmed on Weibo for October 30, 2024 in China. An event preceded by the launch of the MagicOS 9.0 interface a week earlier, on October 23.
This new version based on Android 15 should – oh surprise – emphasize artificial intelligence, while the successor to the already very successful Magic 6 Pro would bring many improvements aimed at consolidating Honor's position in the high-end smartphone market.
Towards a major software and hardware evolution
The Magic 7 series would indeed be equipped with a Snapdragon 8 Elite (formerly 8 Gen 4), the new SoC from Qualcomm which promises to be particularly powerful, in particular thanks to TSMC's 3 nm engraving technique. MagicOS 9.0, for its part, would offer new advanced AI features, with the introduction of an intelligent assistant unveiled at IFA 2024, capable of optimizing daily tasks by anticipating user needs.
The battery, probably still made of silicon-carbon, should guarantee autonomy comparable to that of its predecessor. The new model could keep the same 180 Mpx telephoto lens and the 50 Mpx main sensor of the Magic 6 Pro, while integrating improvements in the ultra-wide-angle side. A new periscopic zoom technology could also be offered. If rumors suggest a curved screen different from the Magic 6 Pro, others suggest that Honor could opt for a completely flat screen. Several photos of one of the models have also leaked.
A very congested launch schedule
The release of the Magic 7 coincides with that of several others flagships Android, like the Vivo X200 and Oppo Find X8, which will also be revealed in October. Although these competitors would be equipped with MediaTek's Dimensity 9400 chip, Honor would stand out by being one of the first to integrate Qualcomm's new processor. The competition nevertheless remains tight, with Xiaomi and OnePlus also in the race.
Although the Honor Magic 7 are initially reserved for the Chinese market, their global release could be scheduled for early 2025, following the brand's usual strategy. International users will have to wait before being able to test the new AI features of MagicOS 9.0 and the promised hardware improvements, probably on the sidelines of MWC 2025.
