Oppo Find X8: this function exclusive to the iPhone 16 will no longer really be one
Oppo's discreet return to the French market could soon take a turn with the launch of its flagship series, the Find X8. A model of which the brand seems particularly proud, since in a video shared on WeiboZhou Yibao, one of its directors, is already presenting the device, in particular a novelty reminiscent of the touch Camera Control of the iPhone 16.
Thanks to this pressure-sensitive shutter button, and developed well before Apple submitted its version, Oppo aims to facilitate shooting in any environment, including underwater, while optimizing the user experience.
A reworked function
If the Cupertino company has unveiled a tactile shutter button on its new iPhone 16Oppo did not wait to develop its own variant. According to the video, the main difference lies in its use. While on the iPhone 16, a single tap opens the Camera app, the Find X8 key requires a double tap, which avoids handling errors.
Once the application is open, users can capture an image or adjust the zoom with a swipe of their finger, like on the Apple model. This tool, located on the side of the device, is more like a pressure-sensitive touch strip than a physical button.
The device also appears to be perfectly waterproof, allowing this functionality to be used underwater. A demonstration which, although it may leave you perplexed, should appeal to fans of diving or photography in an aquatic environment, as smartphone screens are rarely reliable with wet fingers.
A muscular technical sheet
In addition to this innovation, the Find X8 series should bring its share of improvements compared to its predecessors. Powered by the high-end chip Dimensions 9400recently unveiled by MediaTek, the terminal would also havea BOE screen 6.5 inches and a 5700 mAh battery, compatible with 80 W wired charging and 50 W wireless charging.
Its design has also been redesigned, in view of the various leaks, with thin borders and a flat screen, as well as a sleek back and offered in different colors, including black, light blue, light pink and white. The device will also have an alert slider, already seen on smartphones from OnePlus, another brand owned by BBK Electronics.
Just like its sister brand, Oppo is partnering with Hasselblad whose logo is highlighted on the photo block. This would be composed of four 50 megapixel sensors, offering varied optical zoom options (3x and 6x), as on the Find X7 Ultra which did not have the honors of the French market.
The Find X8 series will launch on October 24 in China, and across borders in 2025, likely marking Oppo's return as a serious competitor in the international phone market.
