Android 15: how to install the update on your smartphone?
Since Tuesday, October 15, 2024, Google Pixel smartphone users can benefit from the latest major Android update: Android 15. The opportunity for the Mountain View firm to bring some welcome new features to its smartphones (with the added bonus of a Pixel Drop).
To download and install this new version, simply follow the following steps:
- Open the app Settings
- Select section System
- Touch the option Software updates
- Press System update
- Start the process by selecting the button Download and install
Please note, only the following models can install Android 15: Pixel 6, Pixel 7, Pixel 8, Pixel Fold, Pixel 9 and Pixel Tablet.
For people with other brands of Android phones, you will have to wait some time before the overlays are adapted to Android 15. We also know that Samsung, king of updates, has taken a lot of delay with One UI 7.
Concerning the new features introduced by this new major update of Android on Pixels, we can notably cite the following:
- Protection against theftautomatically locking the smartphone in the event of abnormal movements
- A private space “for apps you don't want other people to see”explains Google. They are accessible in a password-locked folder, located at the very bottom of the application library
- A taskbar that can be displayed continuously on the Pixel Tablet and Pixel Fold/9 Pro Foldand saveable app pairs for even faster multitasking
In its blog post, Google ends by pointing out that camera controls work best in apps in low light conditions; that operators' messaging applications can take advantage of satellite connectivity to send and receive messages without having to be connected to the mobile network or wifi; and that it is possible to identify yourself in one click to apps using the passkeys.
