As reported WABetaInfoWhatsApp is testing a deeper dark theme, internally, for smartphones. A new feature spotted in beta version 2.24.22.4 of the Android version of the application.
A new dark theme for OLED screens
This theme is a darker shade for the entire interface like conversations or chat appearance. Several testers have access to it and the color code is #0a1014 instead of the old shade #0b141a. Screenshots shared by WABetaInfo show that the default messages and wallpaper are darker. Text readability and visual comfort are improved in low light conditions to reduce eye fatigue.
Developers are increasingly abandoning the default grayish shades for darker shades that are adapted to the AMOLED screens found on modern smartphones, even on mid-range ones, notably those from Xiaomi, the Redmi 13 as an example. Samsung has also been integrating these panels into its smartphones for a while, the future Galaxy S25 of which several information has been revealed will not escape it.
All users should enjoy this new dark theme in a future update. Either individually or with other new products. You will therefore have to watch for future updates of the application. It remains to be seen whether iOS will also be entitled to this theme designed for OLED screens, we imagine yes.
