Miele's next washing machines lose blades
These days, washing machines seem to have reached a sort of form-factor ultimate and it is therefore very difficult to bring something particularly innovative. However, the next W2 Nova Edition washing machines will be the first in their category to feature a drum completely without blades. The blades are these large pieces, generally made of plastic, on the inside edge of the drum which will hold the laundry packages during the rotation so that they fall back when they are too high in order to simulate the blows of the beater on the drum. washerwomen’s linen. In addition, often pierced, they also fulfill the function of watering the laundry with rinse water or added detergent.
Miele engineers believe that these movements are likely to damage textile fibers and have therefore developed a drum InfinityCare Honeycomb. Instead of the famous blades, we find hexagons, which are not very prominent otherwise. But so that washing machines equipped with this particular drum are as efficient as their classic counterparts, the manufacturer has added a dose of AI to its recipe and the movements are therefore adapted to the type of textile to be washed.
And it is the W2 washing machine which will inaugurate this technology. To clearly mark this step forward, this new model completely changes its interface even if it remains entirely tactile: color is (finally) making its appearance at Miele! Additionally, new options have been developed such as MotionReact (the W2 nova Edition turns on automatically when someone approaches) or ComfortOpen : the door opens by touching a touch button, without having to pull on the door. Obviously, in-house technologies are still there: we are thinking in particular of the TwinDos detergent dosing system. And of course, the Internet connection, via the Miele@home application.
The first Miele W2 Nova Edition washing machines will be available at the beginning of 2025, time to save a little. In fact, the manufacturer plans an introductory price of €2,499.
