An iPad equipped with Apple Intelligence would be in preparation for early 2025
According to Ross Young, screen deliveries for this new iPad will begin this month, in October 2024, for a launch early next year. Mark Gurman specifies that the tablet “will probably be updated” with Apple Intelligence.
This is a refresh of the current range whose A14 Bionic chip does not support AI. As a reminder, the new iPad mini 7 benefits from Apple Intelligencea model unveiled last week via a press release from the Californian company.
Delay in integrating Apple Intelligence
If this iPad does not come out until 2025, it is because the integration of Apple Intelligence would have been delayed. The Cupertino company wants AI to be present on as many of its devices as possible, but the technology requires powerful hardware. Only A17 or later chips are compatible.
The wizard prepares a first burst of features but others will arrive in 2026 and 2027. Although, according to employees, this solution would be two years behind the competition.
Usually, the iPad uses chips that are two years old. Except that the A16 chip is not powerful enough for Apple Intelligence, as evidenced by its absence on the basic version of the iPhone 15 and on the iPhone 14 Pro.
