iPhone 17 Air & iPhone 17 Pro: here are the new features expected for the next Apple smartphones
After the iPhone SE 4 in the spring, we will have to wait until the start of the 2025 school year to discover new Apple smartphones, aka the iPhone 17. And for this generation, the Apple firm is planning several interesting developments which could clearly convince consumers to change models. The renowned analyst Jeff Pu has also spilled the beans on the Air and Pro versions.
The iPhone 17 Air with finesse
Let's start with the replacement for the Plus version: the iPhone 17 Air. Reported by MacRumors this October 18, 2024, Jeff Pu mentions the main development dedicated to this model: “A noticeable new design compared to previous models.” With the name Air, everything suggests that Apple will follow in the footsteps of the MacBook Air. It should also get closer to the iPad Pro M4, kings of finesse at Apple in 2024.
Concerning the rest of the technical sheet, the analyst follows previous rumors about theiPhone 17 Air :

The analyst also took the time to discuss the developments introduced on the iPhone 17 Pro compared to the previous generation. Once again, Jeff Pu follows the predictions of other informants, such as the famous Mark Gurman and Ming-Chi Kuo.
It thus evokes a 24 Mpx front sensor and a 48 Mpx telephoto lens, as well as the A19 Pro chip which would benefit from the same engraving finesse (3 nm) as the A18 Pro. 2nm processors would therefore wait until 2026 with the iPhone 18 Pro and the A20 Pro chip.
On the RAM side, the quantity would increase from 8 to 12 GB, which is what is necessary to take advantage of more advanced Apple Intelligence features. Note that some informants believe that only the iPhone 17 Pro Max will be entitled to it.
Jeff Pu also firmly believes that the Dynamic Island will become thinner on the most high-end model, in particular thanks to miniaturized sensors for Face ID.
