OnePlus 13: design, announcement date and MagSafe charger confirmed

The end of the year promises very good things on the smartphone market, in particular with the first high-end models incorporating the new chips MediaTek Dimensity 9400 and Snapdragon 8 Gen 4. Qualcomm's next premium processor will be included in the OnePlus 13, expected at the end of October.

The Chinese brand actually revealed this weekend the announcement date for this model: October 31, 2024 at 9 a.m. (French time). As usual, OnePlus will start with a national announcement before launching the international version in early 2025.

The design

Alongside this announcement, we had the opportunity to discover the design of the OnePlus 13. On Weibo, images of the smartphone show three colors. The first is White Dawn (white) and is similar to the white offered by the Glacier White version of OnePlus 12.

The second in Blue Moment shade (blue) is the first model on the smartphone market with a texture “baby skin”providing a skin-like sensation to the touch. As a bonus, a second silver shade is used for the photo module and the chassis.

Finally, OnePlus unveiled the Obsidian Secret (black) shade with a textured finish in “ebony wood grain”.

Note, the general design of the phone has changed little compared to the OnePlus 12, but now follows the trend of flat edges, with a circular photo module which no longer extends to the right side of the chassis.

The magnetic charge

In addition to the design of the OnePlus 13, the brand's magnetic wireless charger has been revealed. Called AirVOOC 50W, it has a ventilation system to limit heating during charging. The opportunity for the brand to overshadow Apple and its MagSafe technology, limited to 25 W on the iPhone 16.
