With winter approaching, the time for bike rides in the countryside will soon be over for a few months for those who are more cautious. Never mind, Decathlon has just launched a new Rockrider E-ACTV 500, an electric VTC designed for assisted hiking on two wheels.
A high frame for the E-ACTV range
The most observant will notice that this new high-frame model (logically) looks a lot like the low frame one marketed a few months ago. Their main point in common, beyond the price in particular, is none other than their central motor, a 250W Yamaha with a torque of 55 Nm.
Decathlon promises a maximum range of 150 km. Enough to take on roads, trails and other paths without stressing too much about recharging its removable 504W battery. This range can, however, quickly decrease depending on the altitude difference and the level of assistance chosen.
E-ACTV range requires (for “Active” electric assistant), the Rockrider E-ACTV 500 offers five assistance modes to adapt your level of effort. The choice is made via a control screen, which also offers a USB-A charging port. The Decathlon Ride application can still be used to benefit from statistics.
The Rockrider E-ACTV 500 is available
This high-frame e-bike from Decathlon has eight speeds and is slightly 200 g heavier than the low-frame one: 24.7 kg. For the details, count on a Suntour SF15 NEX-E25 suspension fork, Microshift Acolyte derailleur, Rockrider Protect+ puncture-proof all-terrain tires and Tektro T280 hydraulic disc brakes. Mudguards and a kickstand are there, while the bike is compatible with optional luggage racks.
The Rockrider E-ACTV 500 is available for €2,000 in dark green.
