PAVS 2024: audio and video demonstrations not to be missed
The Paris Audio Video Show 2024 is an opportunity to keep up to date with market trends and discover small manufacturers whose existence we never suspected. But above all it is the perfect opportunity to listen to and see new products exhibited nowhere else.
A few days before the show, we can already highlight some hi-fi references not to be missed. The French brand Focal will present the Divaits first active connected speakers, as well as its new affordable monitoring headphones Lensys. Marantz will also be there with the 10 Series, a new range of exceptional electronics recently unveiled.
Audio-Technica will obviously honor us with its presence, by unveiling its high-end AT-PLX8 turntable and by deploying Genelec speakers in a 7.1 configuration. More confidential, the superb Niagara XT1 translucent speakers from Waterfall Audio and the DP85 electrostatic panels from Dyptique will also be on display.
On the image side, Hisense will deploy a 110-inch mini-LED television, the launch of which is planned soon. The TCL brand will present its new range of NXFRAME lifestyle televisions. Video projection will also be in the spotlight, with demonstrations of the flagships Projector 8 and 9 from Sony, as well as the entire Epson EH-Q range.
Interview with Philippe Carré, president of PAVS
We took the opportunity to ask Philippe Carré a few questions, in order to find out more about the evolution of the show and to know his vision of the audio-video market.
Hello, I have been an entrepreneur for quite a few years in the field, initially in technical event services, organizer of shows, manager of Son-Vidéo.com and AV Industry. Since 2017, we have taken over the hi-fi and home cinema show, then called Festival Son & Image, which we renamed Paris Audio Video Show, then relocated to the Palais des Congrès at Porte Maillot in Paris. I have been president ever since.
The show will have quintupled in size since our takeover and this 2024 edition will allow it to become the largest European trade show, which gives us great pleasure. We are expecting nearly 30,000 visitors this year! The public is there thanks to the quality of our exhibitors' stands, the variety of the offer and the numerous activities, concerts, workshops, round tables that the show offers.
We are fortunate to have exceptional sponsors every year and in 2024, our sponsor is Éric Serra. He will present his mix in Dolby Atmos of the music of the Grand Bleu, which he composed in a space created for the event at the show.
Technological developments are obviously the essence of our industry. In recent years, the quality of speakers and electronics has continued to improve. Dynamic sound optimization technologies have appeared both for home cinema systems and for high-end hi-fi. Dolby Atmos processes also make it possible to further improve the cinema sound experience.
Clearly streamed digital music, much criticized in the past by hi-fi enthusiasts (it was then limited to MP3) today makes it possible to achieve a sound quality unknown to date thanks to uncompressed files and the capacity networks to transport and store them. In this context, the offer of Streamers, each more qualitative than the other, or amplifiers with integrated streamers, is pulling the market upwards and reconciling high-end hi-fi and connected audio.
Absolutely, after a period of selling rather high-end vinyl turntables only for hi-fi enthusiasts, the vinyl turntable is today a product very popular with young populations who often access hi-fi through this bias. The market therefore remains growing in price segments that are certainly more mainstream, but it is fortunate to see many people passionate about this vinyl offering, which has also become very widespread in the stores!
For this edition, we are lucky to have many new features, whether in projection, speakers, connected speakers… It is almost impossible for me to make a choice. What I can tell you is that the Paris show is becoming the launch site for many products and that delights us, visitors will be able to enjoy it on October 26 and 27!
