Our opinion on the Lenovo Legion Pro 5 16IRX9 (83DF002XFR)
Elegant with its silver aluminum design, the creative gaming laptop Lenovo Legion Pro 5 16IRX9 (83DF002XFR) multimedia is powerful thanks to its large amount of 32 GB RAM and its hybrid Core i7-14650HX processor Intel Raptor Lake Refresh which accelerate multimedia processing. This is also the case for the fast SSD storage with a large capacity of 1 TB which reinforces its responsiveness but also for the high-end GeForce RTX 4060 ray tracing graphics card NVIDIA Ada Lovelace adapted to recent games. This versatile Windows 11 scalable laptop designed to play and create benefits from a 16-inch IPS 2.5K High Definition anti-glare screen with much more faithful DCI-P3 colors which improves fluidity in games thanks to its high frequency of 240Hz, a backlit keyboard or even more extensive connectivity than average with Wi-Fi 6E, 3 USB and 2 USB-C.

Chassis, connectors, screen of the Lenovo Legion Pro 5 16IRX9 (83DF002XFR)
It adopts an elegantly relatively discreet gamer appearance with its dark Onyx Gray silver aluminum design with angular lines and its connectors positioned partly at the back.
This creative gaming laptop includes good connectivity, more extensive than average, including 2 USB-C, a useful HDMI video output to easily connect it to a TV or monitor for example, Bluetooth 5.2 and Wi-Fi wireless modules. 6E ax to communicate and connect remotely, Ethernet and audio ports but also 3 USB 3.0 (USB 2.0 compatible) guaranteeing transfers up to 10 times faster than USB 2.0 if you connect USB 3.0 devices.
When you need to better discern the keys, simply activate the backlighting of the chiclet keyboard.
The screen will appeal to gamers because it has a frequency of 240Hz much higher than the standard 60Hz, which clearly reinforces overall fluidity, including in games.
The screen will also interest creative people since it adopts DCI-P3 and IPS specifications resulting in colorimetric accuracy well above average with significant viewing angles, both horizontal and vertical.
The screen is also suitable for High Definition content due to its 2.5K definition superior to Full HD, its 16:10 format displaying more height information than the classic 16:9 format.
Anti-reflective treatment, the screen also offers better visibility than a shiny panel in a bright environment (e.g. outdoors).
Performance, battery life of the Lenovo Legion Pro 5 16IRX9 (83DF002XFR)
The Lenovo Legion Pro 5 16IRX9 (83DF002XFR) may be of interest to those who wish to equip themselves with a versatile multimedia portable PC that is powerful in gaming-oriented creation.
It delivers great overall power which will appeal to demanding users. Because it is driven by an Intel Core i7-14650HX processor Raptor Lake Refresh with 16 hybrid cores and integrated Iris Xe graphics solution, coupled with a large amount of 32 GB RAM.
Suffice to say that we obtain performances far from those provided by the vast majority of models on the market.
This core deploys its full potential in areas using multi-cores and RAM, such as 3D, video editing or photo editing, which creative people will particularly appreciate. Multimedia processing is therefore much faster than with a classic Quad/Hexa/Octo Core processor and 8/16 GB DDR4/5.
Creators will be delighted that the dedicated GeForce RTX 4060 graphics card is on board. Because under applications taking advantage of GPU computing power (e.g. Vegas, Adobe suite, VSDC) it accelerates processing.
Gamers are not left out since the GeForce RTX 4060 ray tracing is a high-end dedicated NVIDIA Ada Lovelace graphics card capable of running recent games. However, concessions are necessary for the most demanding opuses in 3D resources. Because more graphics calculations are necessary in 2.5K than in Full HD, which results in a lower number of fps.
NVIDIA Optimus technology automatically activates/deactivates the GeForce RTX 4060 in real time depending on the tasks performed.
Optimus actually favors operation on the Iris Xe as much as possible despite its much lower performance because it consumes little energy, which promotes autonomy.
The autonomy is however reduced, settling at around 4 hours on battery in light use.
Coming back to the GeForce RTX 4060, it is requested by Optimus to carry out graphics work deemed too heavy for the Iris Xe, typically for gaming.
On the storage side, Lenovo has the good idea to offer 2 slots for M.2 SSD here. One of them is available to increase the basic capacity if necessary, which is nevertheless very interesting. Because we find a 1 TB SSD integrated to install and store quantities of games, software and files including personal productions why not.
Remember in this regard that an SSD is more resistant to shock than a hard drive while being silent, more energy efficient and much faster.
The SSD therefore provides much better fluidity and responsiveness in use than a hard drive.
Thanks to the SSD, launching games/software, starting/stopping or performing multimedia processing is faster than with a hard drive, as is accessing online game cards.
Finally, when pushed hard (e.g. games, treatments) this versatile multimedia creator gaming laptop PC heats up and makes itself heard.
To contain its temperatures we can associate it with a ventilated support (remember to check the dimensions carefully!).
