Samsung prepares folding tablet and affordable Galaxy Z Flip for 2025

Being the leader in the field of folding smartphones is not enough, and growing competition seems to be gradually getting the better of Samsung.

While the project of an affordable Galaxy Z Fold is not on the agenda and a more premium version has just been announcedthe South Korean firm would consider expanding its range with a cheaper clamshell model and clinging to the world of tablets to democratize its folding screen technology in 2025.

According to information from Meritz Securities, relayed this October 23, 2024 by Jukanlosreve on Twitter/XSamsung plans to launch three to four folding smartphones and “a folding tablet” next year.

If we combine this information with the recent paper of ZDNet Korea on Samsung, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7 should be accompanied by a cheaper Galaxy Z Flip and a tri-folding smartphonelike the Huawei Mate.

This latest model could thus be the folding tablet mentioned by Meritz Securities. As a reminder, previous rumors also mentioned a rollable Samsung smartphone for 2025. These new formats would thus be an opportunity for the company to innovate, and to escape the monotony of the less innovative generations from year to year of the Galaxy Z Fold and ZFlip.

It is also important to emphasize that the results of the last generation are not as brilliant as expected. ZDNet Korea indeed mentions sales below Samsung's objectives: 7-8 million units distributed instead of 9-10 million. It is also specified that the weak link of the duo would be the Galaxy Z Flip 6whose media defines sales as “particularly lethargic”.
