Vivaldi 7.0

On this Thursday, November 24, it's time for the major update 7.0 for Vivaldi. If you've never tried this Chromium-based browser designed primarily for power usersso maybe it's time to replace Chrome, Firefox, Edge and other Safaris. The teams behind the browser have, we imagine, worked a lot this summer to make many changes, as follows.

New interface and dashboard in Vivaldi 7.0

First of all, Vivaldi is getting a makeover with a modified, more “spacious and modern” user interface. This results in now floating tabs and new icons. Everything is always compatible with themes to create a tailor-made UI. A new option to display the interface in a compact or classic way is also making its debut.

The other big piece is soberly called the dashboard (or dashboard in English). Like the Speed Dial, it is accessible when opening a new empty tab. This is a customizable page where the user can insert different modules (or widgets). Vivaldi's internal tools are obviously affected, such as the email client, the calendar, notes, tasks and the flow aggregator or even the Speed Dial. It is also possible to add websites. Some options for modifying the organization and size of the modules are proposed. There is no doubt that this dashboard should improve and expand over time, probably thanks to the community.

Improvements to synchronization, email client and more

Major version requires, Vivaldi has also improved most of its features. This is the case of the feed aggregator which (finally) supports folders to better organize its content. We will also note that the synchronization of data (bookmarks, tabs, settings, etc.) between the desktop and Android versions (still in version 6.9) of the browser is now much faster. Finally, the email client now offers a button to go directly to the last message received.
