Apple renews its iMac with the M4 chip and a welcome option
Apple's iMac 24 is entitled to its renewal this year after a version in Apple Silicon M3. The all-in-one computer from the Apple brand benefits from the M4 chip and some welcome new features.
A more powerful M4 processor chip
The unmissable new feature of the iMac 2024 is obviously its M4 chip inaugurated with the iPad Pro in May. Apple announces this chip as being 1.7 times faster in office and 2.1 times faster in creation and games than the iMac M1 released in 2021.
The M4 chip is also well supported since by default the iMac now has 16 GB of unified memory, a first on a Mac. On the other hand, in terms of storage, you will have to make do with only 256 GB of SSD on the basic versions. A capacity that is reduced to say the least, especially in 2024.
For USB-C ports, the cheapest model with an M4 composed of 8 processor cores and 8 GPU cores is still limited to two Thunderbolt ports, while the model with M4 10 CPU cores and 10 GPU cores has for its part 4 Thunderbolt 4 ports.
Wireless connectivity, however, is unchanged with Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3, Wi-Fi 7 is therefore not included for the 2024 iMac.
