And for good reason: the Strava application made it possible to follow the President of the Republic, Emmanuel Macron. His bodyguards used it during jogging sessions, allowing anyone with bad intentions to follow the head of state.

By sharing your training sessions, the Strava application also exposes you to strangers with rankings and public challenges. This is a default setting.

Fortunately, it is possible to deactivate this option. To do this, from the application, go to the settings, then Privacy Controls > Activities. Then you have the choice between Everyone, Subscribers And You only. It depends on your privacy needs.

Note that these three privacy levels can be set as the default preference for all activities or adjusted on a case-by-case basis for each session.

Also be careful in choosing the data shared. For example, avoid starting and ending your session at home.

Launched in 2009, the Strava application allows you to track more than 30 different activities. The community consists of 100 million users in 195 countries and calls itself “athletes’ social network”.
