Cyberpunk 2077: CD Projekt Red has very good news for Mac players
If you are playing on a Mac and Cyberpunk 2077 has been catching your eye since its release in 2020, good news: you shouldn't have to wait too long to be able to explore Night City on your Apple computer. CD Projekt Red has indeed just unveiled new MacBook Pro M4that a port of its action-RPG would land at the beginning of next year on these machines. The first details are known, unlike the exact date, which will not take long.
Cyberpunk 2077: an ambitious port to Mac
First of all, let's note that this will be a port of Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition. Already available on PC (Steam, GOG and Epic Games Store) and consoles (PS5 and Xbox Series S | Phantom Liberty. Players who own it on PC should be able to enjoy it for free on Mac.
On Mac, Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition will take advantage of Metal API technologies and will run on machines equipped with Apple Silicon chips (potentially M1 to M4). The developer mentions ray-tracing, path tracing, image generation (frame generation) or even spatial audio.
More and more games from Apple
It remains to be seen to what extent and with what quality the game will offer all of this compared to the PC and solutions from Nvidia and AMD. Especially since for the moment image generation is not part of the MetalFX graphics API. The Mac models affected are also not known, the M3 and M4 chips being the only ones to support ray-tracing. In the meantime, it has been revealed that other AAA games will soon be coming to Mac, such as Assassin's Creed Shadows.
