The Area of ​​Interest

The life of Rudolf Höss, the commander of the Auschwitz concentration camp, and his wife Hedwig during World War II. Together they try to build an idyllic life for their family in a house with a garden next to the horror camp.

While its harsh subject may put off some, The area of ​​interest is undoubtedly one of the great films of recent years, which has also been rewarded with 2 Oscars. Its radical bias, which suggests horror rather than showing it, proves astonishingly effective, and we quickly find ourselves captive to the daily life of the Höss, played wonderfully by Sandra Hüller (Anatomy of a fall) and Christian Friedel (Babylon Berlin).
