AIAIAI TMA-2 DJ Wireless: low-latency wireless headphones for ultra-precise mixes
In the world of audio equipment for DJs, the Danish brand AIAIAI stands out for its ability to constantly offer new use cases. It was also making waves at the start of the year with the Unit-4 Wireless+, ultra-compact wireless monitoring speakers designed to be installed anywhere, in all circumstances.
Always with the aim of making life easier for sound professionals, AIAIAI has just unveiled the TMA-2 DJ Wireless headphones. Presented as one of the world's first wireless headphones optimized for DJs, it promises much lower latency than traditional Bluetooth headphones.
Ultra-low latency, almost like a wired connection
Measured on average around 250 ms depending on the headset, the latency of Bluetooth connectivity creates a slight time lag with the source. This phenomenon can prove problematic when setting a tempo before a transition, and DJs know this well.
To overcome this, the TMA-2 DJ Wireless headphones come with a wireless transmitter which would be able to reduce latency to just 10 ms. This connection would therefore offer a shift close to that of a wired connection, without the constraint of cables. Presented in the form of a dongle onto which a 3.5 mm mini-jack cable is soldered, this small accessory called W+ Link is compatible with any source equipped with a headphone output.
Suitable for all needs, the TMA-2 DJ Wireless also includes a traditional Bluetooth receiver and a mini-jack input allowing it to be used wired. Switching between Bluetooth and the W+ Link connection is very simple using a dedicated button. A very useful command to immediately re-establish the connection with your smartphone when you leave the stage.
Insulating pads, robust design and 25-hour battery life
According to the brand, the headphones would be able to present bass and treble ” clearly » thanks to low-distortion 40mm transducers. In addition, its particularly insulating memory foam pads allow you to perceive all the sound details, even in noisy environments. The TMA-2 DJ Wireless has also been designed to meet the demands of the field. Combining a weight of only 217g and a robust construction, it will remain comfortable during intense DJing sessions and stand the test of time.
Thanks to a rechargeable battery with a battery life of 25 hours, the headset promises to be durable enough to never fail its owner.
In short, these AIAIAI headphones present themselves as a versatile solution for DJs wishing to update their equipment. It will be available for €300 all round from the beginning of 2025.
