Game of Thrones at the cinema

The project is still at a very early stage of development and therefore does not yet have a director, screenwriter and even less actor attached to its conception, but Warner Bros. is obviously very tempted by the idea of bringing the world of George RR Martin to life in the cinema.

On the one hand, this is not surprising given the fact that the studio has made a point of releasing as much content from its most popular franchises as possible for several years.

On the other hand, this is a more surprising strategic change concerning this one, because we must not forget that David Benioff and Dan Weiss, the showrunners of the series Game of Thrones which ended in 2019, wanted to conclude it with three feature films, which HBO refused at the time.

However, the management of Warner Bros. and HBO has changed since then, and the two entities are now more inclined to bring their franchises to life in cinema and television, as is the case with the saga Harry Potter which will soon be the subject of a series, or Dunewhose television prequel arrive this month on HBO and the Max streaming platform.

The universe of Game of Thrones still has a bright future ahead of it anyway, not only being the subject of two spin-offs (House of the Dragon And A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: The Hedge Knight) but also several other derivative series currently in the pipeline.

What could this potential film be about? Game of Thrones ? Would it be a question of exploring what happens to Westeros after the end of the original series, or of exploiting another part of its history? To be continued.
