Nintendo is not done with the Switch. Although the console is selling less and less wellforcing the company to reevaluate its estimates for the current fiscal year, the games will continue well.

Indeed, the South Korean firm announced in its Corporate Management Policy Briefing of November 6 backwards compatibility Switch games with its next console.

The long document dedicated to investors discussing its latest results and its strategy for the coming months specifically mentions the following sentence: “Nintendo Switch titles will also be playable on what will succeed the Nintendo Switch”.

But that's not all! Nintendo added that Nintendo Switch Online “will also be compatible” with its long-awaited next generation of consoles.

We therefore cannot be any clearer: physical and digital games from the Switch will accompany the Switch 2. A logical choice when we look at the success of the console, and the myriad of titles created by Nintendo and third-party developers since its launch.

For information, this backward compatibility had already been half admitted by Nintendogiven that lines of code from the Switch's operating system already pointed to the latter. It is still more than welcome that the company confirms all of this verbally.

For the most impatient, know that the Switch 2 is planned for the next fiscal year, starting on April 1, 2025 and ending on March 31, 2026. Although the marketing waits until this period, there is a good chance that the announcement is made in advance.

This will obviously not take place at the end of 2024, given that Nintendo expects to put the most Switches under the tree. There are only the first three months of 2025 left for the much anticipated Switch 2 to emerge from its cocoon.
