Have Intermarché customers been hacked?
SO that Free was recently hackedcausing customers to fear their personal and IBAN data, it was announced that the Intermarché group had also been targeted this Thursday, November 7. The brand itself sent an alarming email but ultimately, the data was not compromised.
False alarm: Intermarché has not been hacked
In this email, Intermarché spoke of a “unauthorized third party access” to their personal data, before quickly denying the information. The message spoke of serious risks: use of loyalty card funds and worse, identity theft. If the banking data was not compromised, this email sowed panic among customers.
Finally, Intermarché denied the hacking on its social networks. The brand ensures that no third party has had access to the personal data of its customers. The parent company, Les Mousquetaires, apologized for this error, without specifying the number of people who received this email. There is also nothing to indicate where this false alarm came from.
The case arises in a very sensitive context following several very real cyberattacks against French companies, Free in the lead. Boulanger was also affected, complaints and investigations by the CNIL then took place.
