Nike releases the Air Max 1 '86 *Big Bubble*! In 1986, it was a prototype of sorts for the Air Max 1, which was released in 1987 as a first design by Tinker Hatfield. For Air Max Day 2023, this historic shoe made its return in an OG colorway, and now more colorways are following! In 1986, the “Big Bubble” was part of the first production run of the Air Max 1, as was the slightly different construction of the upper. The big Air Pad disappeared before 1987, however – it turned out that the “Big Bubble” had a tendency to burst when it got cold. For the later Air Max 1s, we therefore designed a slightly smaller sole, which we know today, with a small air bubble. Today, Nike presents the Air Max 1 '86 in a stylish new colorway! The airy mesh upper is topped with shiny metallic overlays. The blue Air Pad adds a touch of color.
