Wear OS 5 returns in force on Google Pixel Watches
It's been three months since Google made its Pixel Watch 3 official, available in two formats, and two months since it marketed them under Wear OS 5, the latest version of its operating system dedicated to connected watches. In the wake of their availability, the American giant has launched the deployment of this software version on its previous models, namely the Pixel Watch And Pixel Watch 2before suddenly stopping in October, faced with cases of product blocking during their update. Mountain View is now resuming the procedure.
It is therefore the first and second generation Pixel Watch which today offers an upgrade bringing them a burst of new features: a slightly clearer application launcher, more detailed metrics for runners, the possibility to better manage your sporting objectives or even redesigned dials. Beyond the increased customization of watches, the update also aims to improve the endurance of watches – which is not a luxury, given their too light autonomy.
Google rolls out November security patch
This upgrade is accompanied by the November security patch, which is also coming to the Pixel Watch 3. It includes, according to the changelog unearthed by 9to5 Googleperformance and stability improvements, as well as the resolution of Bluetooth disconnection issues occasionally encountered by Watch 3 users. The next update of this type – and Google confirms this – will not take place before March 2025.
Remember that if Mountain View relies heavily on the software durability of its smartphoneswhich he associates with seven years ofupdatesits smartwatches are not in the same boat. The company is not promising more than three years of updates, which means that, if it sticks to its usual schedule, the first Pixel Watch will end its days running Wear OS 6 at the end of 2025.
