Chassis, connections, screen of the Asus Vivobook S 14 OLED S5406MA-DRPP224W
Cooled by IceCool technology via 2 fans, 2 heat pipes and 2 air vents, this laptop PC can be opened 180° completely flat, certified to the American military robustness standard MIL-STD-810H, and adopts a compact Mist Blue CNC machined aluminum design. thin and light at the same time sober, elegant and original.
Rechargeable to 60% in 49 minutes, this laptop has good connectivity with its 2 Thunderbolt 4 USB-C ports, its Bluetooth 5.3 and Wi-Fi 6E ax wireless modules for communicating and connecting remotely, its practical HDMI video output to easily connect it to a TV or a monitor for example, its audio port or its 2 USB 3.0 (USB 2.0 compatible) ensuring transfers up to 10 times faster than USB 2.0 if USB 3.0 devices are plugged into it.
Via Windows Hello technology and the infrared functionality of the webcam, you can authenticate yourself biometrically by facial recognition.
When the keys are difficult to discern, you can better distinguish them by activating the backlighting of the chiclet keyboard.
An undeniable advantage of this configuration, the screen will delight those looking for a High Definition High Fidelity display thanks to its 2.8K (higher than Full HD) and OLED DCI-P3 specifications. Thus the colorimetric accuracy is much higher than average, the blacks very deep, the vertical and horizontal viewing angles significant and the latency minimal. The latter ensures good fluidity, especially as it is supported by the frequency of 120Hz compared to 60Hz as standard.
The screen adopts a 16/10th format higher than the classic 16/9th to display more elements while its coating is shiny and not anti-reflective due to the OLED. As a result, the colors are bright but there is sensitivity to reflections in a bright environment (e.g. outdoors).
Performance, battery life of the Asus Vivobook S 14 OLED S5406MA-DRPP224W
The Asus Vivobook S 14 OLED S5406MA-DRPP224W targets those looking for a multi-purpose, portable compact High Definition & Fidelity multimedia-oriented laptop equipped with recent AI-oriented components.
This Ultrabook is in fact powered by a Core Ultra 9 185H processor Meteor Lake with AI services and 16 hybrid cores, supported by 16 GB of RAM to provide solid general performance that as many users as possible will appreciate.
We are thinking in particular of creative people since this core provides much faster multimedia processing than a model based on a classic Quad/Hexa Core.
We clearly feel the difference under work requiring CPU and RAM resources using multi-core (AI) and RAM. We are thinking in particular of photo retouching or video editing.
SSD storage clearly enhances responsiveness and fluidity on a daily basis to provide rapid processing, as well as start/stops and application launches.
Because an SSD offers high speed, in addition to silent operation, a robust design and even low energy consumption.
Asus offers here an SSD with a high capacity of 1000 GB to calmly install and store many software and files, including personal production for example.
No graphics acceleration of processing, however, since no dedicated graphics card is on board.
Despite everything, we benefit here from the Intel Arc graphics solution housed in the Core Ultra 9 185H, the performances of which are superior to those of the classic Iris Xe.
Thanks to Intel Arc, you can watch HD photos and videos. But also play light to modest games… if we agree to concessions such as a reduction in screen definition.
Because 2.8K requires more graphics calculations than Full HD, which results in a lower number of fps.
Those who wish to use their Ultrabook for many hours away from a power outlet will appreciate its autonomy which is around 9 hours on battery in light use.
Some wishing to equip themselves with a Student laptop will be even more interested as it is easy to transport since it is compact, thin and light.
Finally, in the event of heavy loads (e.g. treatments), expect heat and noise from this versatile multimedia-oriented laptop which can be coupled, if necessary, to a ventilated support to limit its temperatures (remember to check the dimensions carefully!).
