It's no secret that Razer is one of the most expensive gaming peripheral manufacturers in the industry. This reputation is unlikely to fade away anytime soon with the manufacturer's new launch this November 14. To take advantage of its new USB hub, the soberly named Razer USB 4 Dock, you will have to agree to pay a whopping €250. Let's see how Razer justifies this price, which is much higher than many competitors offering more or less the same thing.
Performance and versatility with 14 ports
Power Delivery compatible and powered up to 100 W by a single cable, this aluminum dock (425 g for 190 x 80 x 21.5 cm) therefore supports USB 4. Enough to offer transfer speeds of up to 40 Gb/s, eight times more than the previous USB 3 dock. Razer's new solution also increases the number of ports, which rises to 14.
There are classic HDMI 2.1, DisplayPort 1.4, USB A (x3), USB C, jack and an SD and µSD card reader. Thanks to its speed, the Razer USB 4 Dock is able to manage two screens: one in 4K 120 Hz and the other in 4K 60 Hz. This hub can also charge devices and power a laptop at up to 100 W via USB C. A Gigabit Ethernet port at “only” 1 Gigabit is also included.
The Razer USB 4 Dock is available
Razer is therefore targeting professionals and especially gamers with a Windows or Mac laptop, and looking for the best performance. This is also evidenced by the presence of a 2.4 GHz port.which reduces wireless interference and thus optimizes the reliability of connected gaming devices“.
