CES 2025: Hisense should announce the M2 Pro, a portable and affordable 4K laser projector
THE C2, C2 Pro and C2 Ultrafrom Hisense, catch your eye, but scare your banker too much? Good news, the Chinese giant may have something in its pipeline to please you.
Almost by chance, during a visit to a Hisense R&D laboratory in Qingdao, the Chinese group's hometown, Les Numériques had the opportunity to briefly glimpse a not-yet-announced newcomer to the family. of its Smart Mini Projectors.
A portable 4K laser video projector…
Called M2 Pro, no link with that of Apple, this new model will be added to the family of C2, C2 Pro and C2 Ultra already announced. It will have two interesting features.
The first, it will be, as its letter M might suggest, a mobile model, or at least transportable. It will come with a carrying case and can be purchased with a waterproof carrying case, and even a backpack version for an additional cost.
Much more compact than its big brother the C2, it benefits from a pretty metal finish, and a pivoting, folding foot, which allows you to adjust its inclination during projection, which can take place both indoors and outdoors. exterior, we were told, without having any further details on possible protection or resistance against ambient humidity. We also cannot tell you if the base of this stand is used to protect the rear connectors by covering it during transport as we were unable to handle it, or even touch it.
For the moment, the details on its technical sheet are rather limited. It should a priori benefit from the same Trichrom laser module as its big brother the C2. This should allow it to project a 4K image from 65 to 150 inches, compared to a maximum of 300 inches for the C2… The M2 Pro should also benefit from an optical zoom. In terms of brightness, however, it should be on par with 2,000 lumens. Still capable of adjusting image geometry automatically and on the fly depending on projection angle, the M2 Pro should also be able to cover 110% of the BT.2020 color space. For the sound part, we know that it has enough sound for your films, but the details are lacking, however.
…and affordable…
Second even more interesting specificity, and even good news, the M2 Pro will be placed below the C2 range, at more affordable prices. It should in fact, depending on the different models available, see its price oscillate between 500 and 1,200 euros – even if its prices do not yet seem to be completely fixed.
From the arrival of the C1 in November 2023, Hisense has carved out a significant market share among long-throw laser video projectors. A sensational entry, which is all the more remarkable since the C1 (as well as its young successors) display prices well above the average market price, around three times lower.
Although nomadic and undoubtedly, for this reason, devoid of certain attractive functions, the M2 Pro will in any case position itself head-on against a large part of the competition. To find out more, you will have to wait for CES 2025 and Hisense's announcements. The show will be held from January 7 to 10, in Las Vegas. The product should be available later in 2025.
