The start of 2025 is likely to be busy for the small but exponential market for portable consoles that look like miniature PCs. While the ASUS ROG Ally 2 technical sheets do not than to escape for several months now, MSI is also preparing the renewal of its offer for next January.

In any case, this is what the “innovation” prize awarded by the CES to the MSI Claw 8 AI+ implies. On his official websitethe show – which will hold its next edition from January 7 to 11, 2025 – praises the qualities of the console in a short paragraph; not so much a good indicator of its quality, so much the number ofawards awarded during the show is pharaonic, but this “reward” clearly indicates its release horizon – or, at least, the launch of its pre-orders.

As a reminder, the MSI Claw 8 AI+ will be powered by an Intel Lunar Lake generation mobile processor. An important nuance compared to the currently available offering, this chipset will feature the new generation of Intel Arc “Battlemage” graphics cores, or Xe2. While waiting to be able to benchmark its concrete capabilities, we can nevertheless be reassured about the capabilities of the new portable console, the Lunar Lake range offering good gaming performance with a reduced energy footprint. The first MSI Claw had a hard time convincing the general public, but also the specialized press, as evidenced by our test published at the beginning of the year.

In addition to its new processor, the MSI Claw 8 AI+ will have another major advantage… That of its battery: 82 Wh, for a promise of more than 4 hours of autonomy on AAA games. A claim that remains to be proven – but for comparison, the first generation MSI Claw had a 53 Wh battery. There ROG Allyqueen of autonomy on the portable console market, has an 80 Wh battery. As for the contribution of AI, proudly displayed in the name of the bike, it is better not to talk about it.
