Asus does not deviate from its habits, which is generally one of the very first to formalize its flagship annual from the presentation of the latest high-end chip from Qualcomm. These are three smartphones that make up the family gaming from Taiwan: the ROG Phone 9, the ROG Phone 9 Pro and the ROG Phone 9 Pro Edition. The last two are actually similar, except for one detail: the Pro Edition offers both more RAM and additional storage, and includes a mains charger and an external fan in its box. And if we take a closer look at their specifications, the ROG Phone 9 and 9 Pro / Pro Edition are actually very close…

From a strictly aesthetic point of view, the new ROG range is practically identical to the ROG Phone 8. The three smartphones offer the same 6.78-inch Amoled screen (2400 x 1080 pixels, 2500 cd/m2 announced, protection in Gorilla Glass Victus 2), with a refresh rate of up to 185 Hz, while on the back, the Anime Vision mini-Leds offer a touch personalization to devices. Among the differences, we notice that the ROG Phone 9 has 85, while the Pro models offer 648. Each weighs 227 grams, offers side Air Triggers (game controls) with haptic feedback, and benefits from IP68 certification.

Under their hood sits Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Elite, accompanied by 12/16 GB of RAM (9 and 9 Pro models) or 24 GB of RAM (9 Pro Edition), and storage of up to 512 GB , or even 1 TB for the case of the Pro Edition. Asus promises controlled cooling combining a large layer of graphite and a vapor chamber. Enough to hope for good autonomy, especially since the trio is equipped with 5800 mAh batteries.

Between telephoto lens and macro mode, you have to choose

For two generations of ROG, Asus has aimed to make its terminals gaming everyday smartphones. To do this, he equips them with a refined photo unit, the main module of which is based on Sony's Lytia 700 (50 Mpx) sensor, accompanied by a wide-angle lens. A 13 Mpx ultra wide-angle module accompanies it, and the whole is completed by a 32 Mpx sensor with telephoto lens on the two Pro models, while the ROG Phone 9 prefers a 5 Mpx macro module.

The three new ROG Phones are announced under Android 15, accompanied by some functions linked to AI (instant translation, Circle to search, etc.), with a promise of certainly correct updates in terms of security patches (5 years ), but mild in terms of OS (2 years). Count, in terms of price, on a starting price of €1099 for the ROG Phone 9 (12/256 GB), €1299 for the ROG Phone 9 Pro (16/512 GB) and €1499 for the ROG Phone 9 Pro Edition (24GB/1TB). Depending on the model, their availability is planned between December and January next year, while their pre-orders open this November 19.
