Shoei and Eyelights present a motorcycle helmet that will revolutionize safety
Eyelights is a Toulouse company which decided to import HUD technology from fighter pilots to motorcyclists. A technology already marketed by the company since 2020 through an independent system to be integrated into the helmet called Eyeride and which cost around 400 euros.
In the meantime, Shoei presented a prototype helmet incorporating similar technology last April in Japan. But the integration of an element into the helmet made the use even more perfect. The ideal is to have the information integrated into the visor.
This is exactly what the two companies presented a few months later at EICMA 2024. A helmet resulting from their collaboration, whose HUD is directly integrated into the visor, uses nano-OLED micro-projection technology Eyelights.
This display shows speed, caller name, time, GPS directions, alerts, and more. The technology claims to improve security. Real improvement since the reaction time is reduced by 32% compared to a display on the handlebars.
The collaboration will result in a Shoei helmet called GT -Air which will integrate Bluetooth, Siri and Android voice assistants, speakers, a microphone with air noise reduction and an Intercom.
No price or date announcement yet, but marketing should take longer and it is very likely to see the headset marketed as early as 2025.
