Samsung Galaxy S25 Slim: a more than serious photo part to counter Apple's iPhone 17 Air
While we believed that finesse would be the only terrain where iPhone 17 Air And Galaxy S25 Slim would compete, the latest rumors tend towards diametrically different choices between Samsung and Apple.
At the apple company, a thickness of only 6 mm would be on the program, with a lighter photo section compared to the iPhone 16. We are talking precisely about a single photo sensor at the back, the 48 Mpx one introduced on the iPhone 14 Pro, then on all models of the iPhone 15 and 16 ranges.
Knowing that the Galaxy S25 should drop to 7.2mm thickSamsung would be forced to go below this threshold to ensure finesse worthy of the Slim name. For the moment, no precise details on this subject have been given by the informants. However, we are tending more and more towards a very well provided photo part for this model.
Photo part of the Samsung Galaxy S25 Slim
The leaker Sanju Choudhary indeed shared this November 19, 2024 on Twitter/X the photo configuration of the Galaxy S25 Slim: 200 Mpx Isocell HP5 main sensor, 50 Mpx Isocell JN5 ultra-wide-angle sensor and 50 Mpx Isocell JN5 telephoto lens with 3.5x optical zoom.
To avoid impacting the thickness of this model, the informant adds that Samsung would potentially use its recent ALoP technology (All Lens on Prism). The latter allows the telephoto lens to be more compact, while improving image quality, a perfect compromise for playing on finesse with the Galaxy S25 Slim.
As a reminder, the JN5 sensor was made official in June 2024, but is still not implemented on a smartphone from the South Korean brand. For the HP5 main sensor, not announced by Samsung, its use was only mentioned by an information leak last October for one of Samsung's next folding phones, the Galaxy Z Fold 7.
It remains to be seen whether Samsung will use this strategy for the Galaxy S25 Slim. Note, the arrival of a 200 Mpx main sensor on this model had already been mentioned in a recent information leak.
A launch after the Galaxy S25, S25+ and S25 Slim
The launch of this model will still wait a little longer, given that its launch would not take place in January 2025 with the other Galaxy S25s, but rather around April. This would also coincide with the arrival of Apple's new affordable smartphone: iPhone SE 4.
The opportunity for Samsung to take advantage of two different Apple devices over the next year thanks to a single model, the iPhone SE 4 in the spring and the iPhone 17 Air at the start of the school year in September.
