Elio: after Vice-Versa 2, the next Pixar film offers a cosmic trailer

While Vice-Versa 2 and its 1.7 billion dollars worldwide is well on its way to being the most successful of the year, the Pixar studio already has its sights set on 2025 and its next film: Elio.

This one, expected in cinemas on June 18, 2025, has just revealed new images in a new trailer with the scent ofAND And Encounters of the Third Kind.

A complicated production

Announced by the Luxo lamp studio in September 2022, Elio was originally scheduled to be released in theaters this year, but the film was pushed back a year due to the Hollywood strike, as well as last-minute changes in direction.

Pixar announced last summer that the duo Domee Shi (Red Alert) and Madeline Sharafian (We Are Bears) had replaced Adrian Molina (Coco), left for another project.

A change of direction which is also felt with this new trailer, which contrasts with the first teaser released a year ago. Elio appears more expressive, lively and energetic than in the previous version, and the tone is decidedly more comical.

As a reminder, Elio tells the story of a young boy with an overflowing imagination, who finds himself teleported to the Communiverse, an interplanetary organization made up of representatives of the galaxies, and where he will pass for the ambassador of the Earth…

Written by Adrian Molina, and therefore co-directed by Molina, Domee Shi and Madeline Sharafian, Elio Its original voice cast includes Yonas Kibreab, Zoe Saldana, Brad Garrett and Jameela Jamil.

These changes in artistic direction never bode well, and we hope thatElio will ultimately not be too impacted. This is not the only Pixar film to have changed its direction at the last minute: Ratatouille, Rebel Or Arlo's Journey have also been there and experienced varying fortunes.

Pixar intends to ride on the global success of Vice-Versa 2and intends to prove that its original projects can exist outside of sequels, and bring audiences back to theaters. In 2023, Elementary had thus been a great success with almost 500 million dollars worldwide, and had allowed the studio to bounce back after its post-Covid failures.

Elio is expected in French cinemas on June 18, 2025.
