Pixel Tablet: Google is already abandoning the tablet market

Tablets don't seem to be succeeding at Google. With a model launched in 2023, the Pixel Tabletthe Mountain View firm is already considering leaving this market according to recent information.

WhileAndroid Healines announced on November 20 the cancellation of development of the Pixel Tablet 3, things would ultimately be more serious than expected regarding the future of this product category.

Android Authority's sources indeed mention that even the Pixel Tablet 2 project would have been abandoned by Google. The informant who revealed this decision to the media also pointed out that Google would have made this decision for fear of losing money with this product.

It must be said that the tablet market is very competitive, with on one side the undisputed leader, Appleand on the other a fierce presence of Chinese manufacturers, offering tablets with unbeatable value for money.

We can therefore estimate that Google did not succeed in attracting customers with its first Pixel Tablet at 499 euros, and that the company does not wish to re-incur costs, potentially at a loss, for a new generation.

Note, the abandonment of the tablet market could bring Android to another product category : PCs. At the beginning of the week, an information leak was in fact going in this direction, which could ultimately replace the ChromeOS operating system.
