The first edition of the RODECaster Pro was a great success. The RODECaster Pro II pushes the boundaries even further and offers an all-in-one solution for creating vlogs, YouTube content or podcasts from scratch. The idea of this machine is comparable to the options that an audio interface combined with the right software offers, and much more. Additionally, this device is designed precisely for podcasting and vlogging. So it contains all the necessary features in one convenient device. And the icing on the cake? This ultra-complete console remains relatively affordable.
Possibilities of the Rode RODECaster Pro 2
Equipped with high-end mic preamps, the Rode RODECaster Pro 2 allows you to connect four microphones and four headphones and offers ultra-transparent sound without the need for boosters (Rode does not recommend the use of boosters). Adding effects is also simple: the built-in Aphex effects are essentially simulations of vintage effects allowing you to enrich any voice. Don't want to do in-depth programming? Don't worry, the VoxLab is easy to access and only includes a handful of clear and essential parameters. Other effects assignable to the pad include a robot, megaphone, pitch shifter and more.
Use
In addition to jingles, the eight built-in pads can be used to control effects, MIDI commands, fade-ins, fade-outs, ducking moments (useful in case of coughing) and, thanks to the banking buttons, you technically have access to a total of 64 pads. When it comes to faders, Rode didn't install as many as on the initial RODECaster model. On the other hand, the new faders are programmable, meaning you can combine one with a stereo source that occupies two mono inputs. Because the routing system is infinitely extensive, faders can be assigned to virtually anything.
A huge ambition
Even though the inputs and outputs have been replaced by Neutrik, the Rode RODECaster Pro 2 is not just an improved version of the first model. The new internal architecture includes a dual audio interface, allowing you to connect the device to two different computers, or a laptop and a smartphone, or simply two smartphones, while the programmable faders can be adjusted to ensure the perfect volume. Whether you connect microphones, instruments or a combination of the two, the RODECaster Pro 2 makes it possible to carry out any project, even the most ambitious.
Wireless connectivity, memory and firmware
We're not done yet; The RODECaster Pro 2 offers Bluetooth compatibility, MFi for iOS, wireless streaming and firmware updates via WiFi, as well as an Ethernet port. Rode regularly offers firmware updates, and not just to fix bugs, because the goal is to proactively add new features to this device. Recordings, on the other hand, can be stored in full HD on microSDHC or microSDXC cards, whether channel files or complete mixes and, thanks to the Rode Central app, all functions can be controlled from your smartphone.
