Lenovo Legion Go S: the portable hybrid console unveils its entry-level model
Black cat, white cat: after draping the Lenovo Legion Go black, its successor will be white. Finally, one of her successors – as we recalled a few weeks ago, three models of Lenovo Legion Go are planned for the next generation of console-portable PC. While it still remains to be discovered which will be the other two more powerful models, this first new feature already contrasts radically with the previous hardware.
So, no more detachable joycon-style joysticks from the Nintendo Switch. Here, the shape is much more conventional, with a grip that would bring it closer, we imagine, to the ROG Ally. The layout of the keys and joysticks remains unchanged; with the exception of the directional cross, which now adopts a circular format… and similar, once again, to the Asus machine.
The Lenovo Legion Go S in search of inspiration
Another curious detail, the presence of a small protuberance under the right joystick in place of the miniature trackpad of the first Legion Go. In a risky comparison, we imagine an operation similar to that of the TrackPoint appearing on the brand's ThinkPad keyboards . These rubber domes allow you to control the cursor on these laptops, but its principle is not exclusive to the world of computing. The New Nintendo 3DS adopted a similar pointer, assigned to camera controls, for example.
And inside, what does it look like? Still according to information from Windows Central, the Legion Go S would indeed feature a new Ryzen Z2 APU from AMD, but based on a Zen 3+ core architecture; which would make it a less powerful iteration of the Legion Go and its Z1 Extreme and its terribly efficient Zen 4 cores. As a result, its price would also be lowered compared to its big sister, marketed at around €700. In a market where Valve and its Steam are alone in the €500 price range, Lenovo certainly has a game to play…
