Harry Potter, The Last of Us, Game of Thrones… HBO confirms its release schedule until 2027

The year 2025 for HBO is shaping up a little better. Jean-Briac Perrette, CEO and streaming chief of Warner Bros. Discovery has indeed clarified this Tuesday the dates and release windows of future series of the Max streaming platformof which Euphoria season 3, The Last of Us season 2, The White Lotus season 3, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms or even Harry Potter.

A return to Westeros in the fall

As part of a conference held this Tuesday, December 3, JB Perrette gave the roadmap for future Warner productions to come in 2025 and beyond.

Season 3 of The White Lotuswhich takes place for the occasion in Thailand, will arrive in February 2025, and will present a very nice cast: Walton Goggins, Carrie Coon, Leslie Bibb, Michelle Monaghan, Parker Posey and even Charlotte Le Bon.

Perrette continues: “Then we'll move on to Season 2 of The Last Of Us in the second quarter, and we'll have the new, smaller-scale Game of Thrones series coming out over the summer.”.

If we do not yet have the precise broadcast dates for these two highly anticipated series, this leaves us hoping for a release of the second season of The Last of Us between March and June 2025.

It is a little less clear for A Knight of the Seven Kingdomswhich Perrette announces “in the summer”. However, a previous statement from Casey Bloys, CEO of HBO, had placed it for the end of 2025, and sources close to our colleagues at Deadline say that it is still planned for the 4th quarter, i.e. between October and December 2025.

To be continued, even if a broadcast window similar to that of The Penguin – released on September 19 – seems likely.

Euphoria for 2026

Season 3 of the multi-awarded series Euphoriawhich is due to begin filming in January, has also been announced for release “probably early 2026”.

“We are filming the season, I have read the scripts, we are happy, we are moving forward”he declared. “I know the show is getting a lot of attention now because it's created some real movie stars, and they have various projects they're working on. But we're filming this season, so nothing's changed.”

Created by Sam Levinson, the series was a phenomenon and revealed a number of now popular actors such as Zendaya, Sydney Sweeney, Hunter Schaffer and Jacob Elordi. But it also experienced a lot of turmoil behind the scenes, with the departure of several actors, the death of Angus Cloud, and numerous rewrites.

As a reminder, season 2 was broadcast almost three years ago, in January 2022.

Return to Hogwarts postponed to 2027?

Finally, the CEO of Warner Bros. Discovery has adjusted what promises to be the event series of the next few years: Harry Potter.

“In 2026 and 2027, we will begin a 10-year journey in the Harry Potter series, which we are very excited about”he declared. “I would say that this will perhaps become the biggest event in terms of the series.”

Casting for the new Harry, Ron and Hermione has just begun, with filming expected to begin early next year.

Initially announced for the end of 2026, the series adaptation of JK Rowling's books is likely to be broadcast on Max sometime in 2027.
