Home automation: the release of Apple's connected screen has been postponed
The HomePod with screen, recently nicknamed HomePad, is not ready to hit the shelves of Apple Stores and the Apple firm's usual resellers. While the informants leaned towards the arrival of a connected screen designed for home automation in the first months of 2025, Apple would have finally decided to postpone its launch.
This revelation comes directly from a famous analyst always well informed about the Cupertino company's projects, Ming-Chi Kuo. Through a blog post published this Wednesday, December 4, he explains that production of this new device would have moved from the first to the third quarter of next year.
By moving the launch of this device to this period, Apple could simply announce its connected screen at WWDC 2025 and market it immediately during the summer. A choice that makes sense, given that the event, still taking place in June, would also be an opportunity for the company to present the dedicated operating system to his home automation screen.
In addition to this information on the release window, Ming-Chi Kuo took the time to share some information on the technical sheet. We would thus be entitled to a 6.7-inch screen, the famous A18 chip of the iPhone 16/16 Plus and compatibility with Apple Intelligence.
According to the analyst, 500,000 connected screens would be produced by the end of 2025. If consumers stick to the device, he estimates that annual production could be doubled, reaching one million units. .
He adds in passing that Apple's surveillance camera project could connect wirelessly to the device. Ming-Chi Kuo envisions that Apple “will closely integrate these two new products with its existing ecosystem and HomeKit to provide a seamless smart home experience”.
