OnePlus would be about to expand its catalog with a new Android tablet at a controlled price. If we are to believe recent leaks from Digital Chat Station, an informant known to be reliable and very active on the Chinese social network Weibothis next touchscreen slate would be a disguised version of the Oppo Pad 3, a model already marketed in China.
A simple, basic technical sheet
The tablet would be equipped with an 11.6-inch LCD screen, displaying a resolution of 2800 x 2000 pixels and a variable refresh rate of up to 144 Hz. Under the hood, it would integrate MediaTek's Dimensity 8350 chip, a benchmark mid-range, suggesting balanced performance for everyday use.
In terms of endurance, it would benefit from a battery with a capacity of 9520 mAh for comfortable autonomy. This battery would be compatible with 67W wired fast charging, allowing rapid charging. For the photo part, the tablet would have a rear module and a front camera of 8 megapixels each, sufficient definition for videoconferencing or taking occasional photos.
The twin of the Oppo Pad 3
These characteristics revealed by Digital Chat Station are strangely reminiscent of those of the Oppo Pad 3, a model recently presented in China. The device weighs 536g, measures 6.29mm thick, and offers up to 12GB of RAM and 512GB of storage. The Oppo Pad 3 is also compatible with the Oppo Pencil 2 stylus, and available in three colors: silver, purple and dark blue.
OnePlus could, however, introduce aesthetic tweaks, such as different colors or finishes, to distinguish its version from that of its sister brand in international markets. This is not the first time that the two manufacturers of the BBK Electronics group have shared similar models. Not long ago, Oppo launched the Watcha connected watch which was none other than the OnePlus Watch 2 undercover.
In the shadow of the Apple
While the OnePlus Pad, and the Pad 2which went through our labs and convinced us, are respectively sold for €499 and €549, this new tablet should be positioned in a lower price range, similar to the Oppo Pad 3, launched from €275 (in gross conversion) on the Chinese market.
This strategy could allow OnePlus to meet growing demand for accessible Android tablets, particularly in markets where iPads dominate, but where consumers are looking for high-performance alternatives at a reasonable price.
