Switch 2: still 6 months to wait for the new Nintendo console
Nintendo's plans are pretty much clear around the announcement of the Switch 2 : by the end of the current fiscal year, i.e. before March 31, 2025. A judicious choice, which allows the current generation to be highlighted for the end-of-year holidays, just like the latest big games designed by the Japanese firm.
We think in particular of The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom, Super Mario Party Jamboree or even Mario and Luigi: The Fraternal Epic. The last one planned, Donkey Kong Country Returns HD, will then arrive during the month of January 2025.
The release date of the Switch 2 remains quite uncertain. While the month of March next year was previously mentioned, a new information leak from the YouTube channel Ninteduo is now moving towards a more distant marketing date: around the month of June.
A insider Nintendo, Samus Hunter, shared some details about this revelation on Twitter/X on December 3, 2024. According to him, Nintendo would consider releasing its Switch 2 at the end of spring, around May/June 2025 depending on the progress of production.
In terms of announcement, January or February would be the most likely months. The price would be between $399 and $449 depending on the taxes in each region according to the informant. We would thus be facing an increase of $50 to $100 compared to the Oled Switch and $100 to $150 compared to the original model.
He ends by stating that Nintendo still has video games to announce for the Switch 1, which could thus justify a launch later than expected. A half-valid argument when we know that the Switch 2 will support current generation games.
